In the past, foot-powered or human powered machines were common and even fuelled the industrial revolution. This project is an attempt to build some of those woodworking machines for a hobby or home-use context. Using modern materials, hardware and production techniques; human powered woodworking tools can be as precise and usable as modern electrical tools.

The multi-tool consists of a foot-powered unit that can be attached to various tools such as sanders, scroll saws and wood lathes. These machine attachments can be built using simple materials and CNC-routing for accuracy. A lot of makers around the world have published plans and instructions on how to make these machines however, most are powered by motors. The foot-powered unit seeks to replace the need for individual motors and reduce the cost of owning a home-workshop. The power unit is a slim and light machine that can be stored in small spaces making it perfect for urban hobbyists.
