Lichens grow everywhere and they are good bio-indicators of air quality. Lichen Air Sensors encourages citizens to interact with lichens around them to determine air-quality at a neighbourhood or street scale and create awareness by making public signage.
It has been built in two forms - the kit and the app. The kit is low-tech and inexpensive and has been designed to be easily integrated in school curriculum. The app digitises the process and helps to share approximate local air quality levels. This project aims to highlight unnoticed biodiversity in our cities and how it can contribute to making urban areas more inclusive to all types of life.
